SAARC 2017: Making Data Meaningful: Addressing Critical Issues

We are excited to welcome Dr. Dafina-Lazarus Stewart as our keynote speaker!

Dr. D-L Stewart is a professor and part of the leadership of the School of Education's Student Affairs in Higher Education master's degree specialization at Colorado State University. Fall 2017 marks the beginning of Dr. Stewart's 17th academic year as a faculty member in higher education.

In Dr. Stewart's research, ze endeavors to be a critical and post-structural scholar, educator, and activist focused on empowering and imagining futures that sustain and cultivate the learning, growth, and success of marginalized groups in U.S. higher education institutions. Dr. Stewart's work is motivated by an ethic of love grounded in justice and informed by an intersectional framework that recognizes both the lived experiences of individuals with multiple marginalities, as well as the material effects of interlocking systems of oppression. Dr. Stewart is most interested in the philosophy and history of higher education, institutional transformation toward realizing equity and justice, and how higher education environments function within society and as a crucible for the learning and development of minoritized student, staff, and faculty populations.
